1. Introduction

Lattice Licensing, Inc. (“Lattice,” “we,” “us”) provides a semantic patent-search platform (the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, the legal bases for processing, and the choices you have. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide

  • Account information — such as your name, email address, organization, and authentication details, provided directly or through our identity provider.
  • Content you submit — search queries, saved searches, and patent portfolios or other files you upload to organize and analyze.
  • Communications — information you share when you contact us for support, partnerships, or pilot access.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data — pages viewed, features used, and actions taken, used to operate and improve the Service.
  • Device and log data — IP address, browser type, and similar technical information.
  • Cookies and similar technologies — see Section 5.

3. How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service and its search results.
  • Authenticate users and secure accounts and organizations.
  • Respond to your requests and provide support.
  • Monitor usage, prevent abuse, and ensure reliability.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

Legal bases (EEA/UK users). Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process personal data on the following bases: performance of a contract (to provide the Service you request); our legitimate interests (to secure, improve, and operate the Service, balanced against your rights); compliance with a legal obligation; and your consent where required (for example, certain cookies). You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior processing.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share it only:

  • with service providers who process data on our behalf (for example, hosting, authentication, and analytics) under appropriate confidentiality obligations;
  • when required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of Lattice, our users, or the public;
  • in connection with a business transfer such as a merger, financing, or acquisition.

Patent and other records surfaced in search results are derived from public data sources and are not personal information about you.

5. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and understand how the Service is used. We use the following categories: strictly necessary cookies (required for sign-in and security), functional cookies (preferences), and analytics cookies (usage measurement). You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect functionality. Where required by law, we request consent before setting non-essential cookies.

6. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy. In general:

  • Account information is retained for the life of your account and deleted within 90 days after account closure, unless a longer period is required by law.
  • Content you submit (search queries, saved searches, uploaded portfolios) is retained while your account is active and deleted on the same schedule, or sooner at your request.
  • Device and log data is typically retained for 12 months.
  • Records we must keep for legal, tax, or dispute-resolution purposes are retained for the period required by applicable law.

You may request deletion of your account data as described in Section 8.

7. Data Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and applicable regulators as required by law.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA). You have the rights described above, including the right to know, delete, and correct, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. As stated in Section 4, we do not sell or share personal information. You may designate an authorized agent to make requests on your behalf.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 12. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law (generally within 30 to 45 days) and may need to verify your identity before acting. We may process and store information in countries other than where you live, including the United States. Where we transfer personal data out of the EEA or UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK Addendum where applicable) or transfers to countries recognized as providing an adequate level of protection. You may request a copy of the relevant safeguards using the contact details in Section 12.

10. Children’s Privacy
